Evdokia Krystallidou

Researcher of the cooperative organization

Dr. E. Krystallidou is an active professional in the field of farm animals’ nutrition. She is Lecturer – Environmental Systems Management Major – Livestock Management pathway, Perrotis College, American Farm School, Greece. Her experience is essential in the present research for the prevention of nutritional risk factors (storage conditions, mycotoxins detection, complete feeding schedule). In the proposed study, she will supervise the boars’ diet to ensure full nutritional support of spermatogenesis, depending on age, frequency of semen collection and pig farm’s conditions.

Athina Basioura

Post-doctorate researcher

Dr A. Basioura (DVM, Ph.D.) has already received specialization training abroad in the field of swine biotechnology of reproduction. Her previous research work concerns the handling/ processing of boar semen and the in vitro pig embryo production. In the present study she will be the responsible farm vet for the monitoring of boars’ health status. Additionally, she will perform the semen analysis assays in the Unit of Biotechnology of Reproduction, Farm Animals Clinic, School of Veterinary Medicine of Thessaloniki. Specifically, she will apply part of the semen diagnostic tests, such as the assessment of sperm membrane lipid peroxidation and sperm DNA integrity.
